Details and Information
Poole Harbour is one of the largest natural harbours in England. The town of Poole is built around it shores with the Poole Quay area offering pubs, restaurants, boat trips around Brownsea island ( made famous by Baden-Powell and the Scouts ) or day trips to other harbours in Dorset. Take a walk around the harbour area or enjoy the water sports on offer.
The area near Sandbanks is very shallow and is a great place to learn to kitesurf, paddle board etc. Equipment is available for hire on the beach.
Poole Harbour has many Yacht clubs and Marinas to launch your boat or take a day fishing trip on one of the charter boats. The kids will enjoy a day crab fishing in the harbour and an ice-cream. The public slipway at Harbourside Park can be used for launching your boat or jet ski and there is ample paid parking.
You can also catch the ferry across the harbour entrance from Sandbanks to Studland. Due the the large volume of water entering and leavening the harbour this can be a turbulent section of water.
Poole Park is located near to the harbour and offers plenty of activities for young and old.
