About the Event
An amazing opportunity to experience the reserve during the magical spectacle of an autumn sunset and connect with our nocturnal nature.
Our guides will lead you on a gentle stroll, taking in woodland and heathland, with far reaching views over the nature reserve, Arne Moors and the Wareham Channel – where the rivers Frome and Piddle meet Poole Harbour.
We will pause to take in the golden beauty of the sun setting over the heathland – highlighting autumn hues of browns, oranges and reds. Then, as dusk falls we will listen out for our nocturnal nature – the distant hoot of owls, the calls of foxes and the distinctive sounds of Sika deer.
We will use bat detectors to decipher the usually unheard echo-location of bats hunting for their insect prey – feeding up before they hibernate for winter. And spots birds heading off to their overnight roosts.
The perfect end to an autumn day!
